The Pirates will promote catcher Jason Jaramillo and pitcher Brian Burres, Dejan Kovacevic writes. It's September, so the usual 25-man rosters have been expanded, and no other roster moves need to be made. The Bucs will probably continue to promote players from Indianapolis in the coming week.
↵Jaramillo, 28, batted .276 with a .368 on-base percentage and a .373 slugging percentage for Indianapolis. Burres, 30, had a 4.66 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 129.1 innings. As you can probably tell from looking at their ages and statistics, neither of these guys are key parts of the Pirates' future. They'll just provide the Pirates with a bit of additional depth. Burres will also start on Friday against the Cubs.
↵Indianapolis' season ends Monday. Other potential callups include catcher Eric Fryer, first baseman Matt Hague, outfielder Gorkys Hernandez, and pitchers Daniel Moskos, Aaron Thompson and Jeff Locke.
