Ian Kennedy and J.J. Putz two-hit the Pirates Monday night in Arizona as the listless Bucs continued their poor hitting.

Kennedy had 12 strikeouts and one hit allowed in eight innings, and he won his 20th game of the season in the process. For the Pirates, Jeff Karstens made his last start of the season (the Bucs announced before the game that he won't pitch anymore) and did well, but he gave up a solo home run to Justin Upton in the sixth that proved to be the difference.

Alex Presley tripled off Putz with one out in the ninth inning, but Neil Walker and Andrew McCutchen were unable to bring him home.

The series continues at 9:40 PM on Tuesday, not that any Pirates fans will particularly be paying attention.
