A tweet by Class AAA reliever Daniel Moskos indicates that the Pirates will promote his Indianapolis teammates Jeff Locke and Jared Hughes.
↵Rosters expand to 40 in September, so expect a couple more moves (including one involving Moskos himself) in addition to these. Locke is already on the 40-man roster, but Hughes will have to be added.
↵Locke had a rather slow start to his season at Class AA Altoona, but he ended up earning a promotion to Indianapolis, where he had five starts that were very good overall. He isn't one of the Pirates' best prospects, but he's among their best starting prospects in the high minors. He was acquired in the Nate McLouth trade, along with Charlie Morton and Gorkys Hernandez.
↵Hughes was a fourth-round draft pick in 2006. He's had a slow climb through the minors, but has added some velocity as he's filled out, and he has come into his own as a reliever this season, striking out 45 batters in 42.2 innings.
