Pirates catching prospect Tony Sanchez broke his jaw in a bar fight "about three months ago," the Trib reports. Sanchez missed big chunks of the 2010 season after breaking his jaw twice after being hit by pitches, but in this case, it looks like he's currently ready to go and won't miss any time.
↵The bigger problem, of course, was that he got in a bar fight, which isn't something you want any first-round pick to be doing, especially not a catcher, who occupies a sort of leadership position on the field. Sanchez's stock as a prospect had already been falling due to a poor 2011 season, and this isn't going to help.
↵As the Trib notes, Sanchez also got in trouble with the team last year for taking to Twitter to criticize Class AA umpiring. The Pirates benched him for several games.
↵The Bucs, as a matter of team policy, aren't commenting on Sanchez's situation.
