The Pittsburgh Pirates will enter their three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at PNC Park without a mathematical chance to finish the season with a winning percentage of .500, which would have been the franchise's first since the 1992 season.

Instead, the Pirates will look to end their season on somewhat of a high note and continue their evaluation of players, specifically the younger ones, to see if there will be a role for them. On an individual basis, Pirates star outfielder Andrew McCutchen will look to improve his case for the National League MVP award.

McCutchen is looking to become the first Pirates player to win the MVP award since Barry Bonds won it in 1992. The 25-year-old McCutchen has hit .329/.402/.557 in 662 plate appearances this season along with 31 home runs and 20 stolen bases.

The first of the three game set is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch from PNC Park with Jeff Locke listed as the probably starter for Monday. Television coverage will be provided by ROOT SPORTS and KDKA-FM 93.7 will be providing radio coverage.
