The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers and both rumored to be interested in trading for Pittsburgh Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan. The Pirates would be willing to part with Hanrahan after re-signing Jason Grilli. Pittsburgh is hoping to add a starting pitcher to their rotation during the offseason.

The Red Sox would likely offer the Pirates a package of young players, including a pitcher.

The Dodgers have plenty of starting pitchers that could be on the trading block, including Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang. Los Angeles is hoping to improve their bullpen, and although they would prefer a left-handed pitcher, the right-handed Hanrahan could fit into their plans.

Hanrahan has made the All-Star team in each of the last two seasons. Last year he recorded 36 saves with a 5-2 record, 2.72 ERA and 1.274 WHIP. He has been a member of the Pirates since 2009 and has served as their closer for the past two seasons.
