Pirates Vs. Diamondbacks Preview: Pittsburgh Wants To Take Advantage Of Arizona Injuries

The Pittsburgh Pirates finally found some offense against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday winning 5-4 thanks to four hits by Andrew McCutchen, including a tie-breaking single with two outs in the top of the ninth inning.

James McDonald will start for the Pirates on Wednesday. McDonald lost his most recent start against the San Francisco Giants after pitching 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs.

Garrett Jones added three hits in Tuesday's game and will be relied upon to help the Pirates get some offense on the board, as the Pirates have hit a paltry .203 as a team. The Pirates may have a chance for this as two of the Diamondbacks' best, Justin Upton and Chris Young, will not play Wednesday.

In addition, Arizona starting pitcher Daniel Hudson currently has an 8.71 ERA after pitching 3.2 innings in a loss to the Colorado Rockies. Hudson has given up two home runs in each of his first starts.

The game is scheduled for a 3:40 p.m. first pitch from Chase Field in Phoenix. Television coverage will be provided by Root Sports and radio coverage will be provided by 93.7 KDKA-FM.
