Pirates Pitcher Kyle McPherson Heads To Disabled List

Pirates Prospects writes that Pirates pitcher Kyle McPherson will start the season on the minor-league disabled list, due to shoulder inflammation.

Right-handed pitcher Kyle McPherson will start the season on the Indianapolis disabled list due to some shoulder inflammation, Pirates Prospects has learned. The Pirates haven’t set a timetable for McPherson’s return, but he will miss enough time to miss the start of the 2012 season.

Shoulder and elbow problems can be very bad news for pitchers. That doesn't mean that McPherson has a serious injury, but Pirates fans should monitor his situation closely.

McPherson had a "dead arm" that caused him to miss time earlier in Spring Training this year.

McPherson was the Pirates' best minor-league pitcher in 2011, striking out 60 batters while walking only six at Class A+ Bradenton before moving up to Class AA Altoona and striking out 82 while walking 21.
