After struggling through a series against the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend, the Pirates' brief homestand continues with a series against the Colorado Rockies Monday through Wednesday.
Monday's game, at 7:05 p.m., will feature Kevin Correia against the geriatric Jamie Moyer. Moyer has been the talk of baseball this year due to his age, particularly after grabbing a win against the Padres last week. Will the Pirates' anemic offense make even the 49-year-old, 80-MPH-throwing Moyer look like a god? We'll see. Correia was a scratch from his Saturday start due to some sort of pain in his side, but he appears to be ready to go now.
On Tuesday at 7:05, Juan Nicasio takes on James McDonald. On Wednesday at 12:35, it's Jhoulys Chacin against Charlie Morton.
After this series, the Pirates have a day off, then hit the road for series against the Braves and Cardinals. he Rockies series is therefore the easiest series the Bucs will have to play for awhile. The question, obviously, after scoring two runs or fewer in 11 of their first 15 games, is whether they'll have the offensive chops to take advantage.
