#Padres traded for LHP Brian Tallet. Tallet, who has a 4.79 ERA over 9 seasons in the big leagues, reports to Triple-A.

Tallet didn't make the Pirates out of Spring Training, and he wasn't particularly close to doing so. He did, however, play in the big leagues for the Cardinals and, briefly, the Blue Jays in 2011, posting terrible numbers over 13.1 innings. He pitched 77.1 innings for the Jays in 2010 and was awful, posting a 6.40 ERA while striking out 53 and walking 38. Lefties always seem to get more chances than righties, so it's hard to tell when their careers are over, but Tallet appears to be pure minor-league depth at this point, so the Pirates are almost certainly just getting cash or a player to be named later.
