Pirates' Brad Lincoln To Start For Erik Bedard

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle announced Saturday that pitcher Brad Lincoln will make a spot start for the injured Erik Bedard on Monday against the Marlins. Bedard will then return to the rotation on Wednesday when the Bucs face the Nationals in Washington.

Lincoln replaced Bedard on the mound in the second inning on Wenesday when Bedard was removed due to back spasms. Lincoln pitched three innings and allowed an unearned run in earning the victory.

Bedard will use the extra couple of days before his next start to work with the training staff on his injury.

Lincoln has posted a 0.63 ERA with 16 strikeouts against six walks in 14.1 innings pitched of relief this season. He was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on April 19 when Jeff Karstens was placed on the disabled list. In two starts down on the farm, Lincoln was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and nine strikeouts against no walks.
