Right-handed pitching Charlie Morton take the mound on Sunday afternoon, as the Pittsburgh Pirates try to beat the Cincinnati Reds for the second game in a row. Pittsburgh has not pulled off back-to-back wins since beating the Diamondbacks twice on April 17 and 18.
Morton allowed five earned runs in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday, a bump in the road of what's been a solid start to the season. That game raised Morton's ERA to 4.22. He has a 21:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in four starts and 21.1 this season. Morton has a 4-4 record in 10 starts against the Reds since joining the Pirates in 2009.
The Pirates will face Reds right-hander Mat Latos. Cincinnati surely envisioned more than Latos' 5.97 ERA in five starts this season when they sent four players to the Padres in exchange for the 24-year old. Latos gave up five earned runs in his last outing, against the Astros, and has a 18:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in five starts this season.
The game starts at 1:35 p.m. at PNC Park. A win would give the Pirates a series win. Fans can watch the game on the ROOT Sports Pittsburgh or catch it on local radio at 93.7 KDKA FM.
