Arrieta takes the place of Brian Matusz, who sits due to a nose bruise suffered while he was trying to bunt.
Arrieta has a 6.32 ERA so far this year, but he’s had a rough time with hits on balls in play and with fly balls going over the fence. He’s improved throughout his career, and his eight strikeouts per nine innings so far this year are nothing to sneeze at. However, he allowed nine runs in his last outing, against the Phillies.
