Top Pirates prospect Gerrit Cole is set to make his Class AA debut Wednesday night with Altoona.
↵↵↵Cole cannot afford to get overly excited about his debut for the Curve, or anything else at this point.
↵"It's something I've gotten a lot better at, and it's definitely part of my routine now," he said.

Cole, the first overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, started the season with Class A+ Bradenton and struck out 69 batters in 67 innings, posting a 2.55 ERA. It would have been nice to see him be promoted a bit earlier, since he was the top overall pick out of a big college program, but his promotion to Class AA still puts him on track to reach the big leagues sometime next season, assuming all goes well. He has outstanding stuff, including a blistering fastball; hopefully, Class AA hitters won't find it any easier to deal with than Florida State League players did.
