Pirates, Mets Tied For Final N.L. Wild Card Spot

On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Detroit Tigers, 4-1 at PNC Park. It marked Pittsburgh's third straight win. And then the New York Mets stumbled in their Subway Series contest against the New York Yankees by a score of 4-3. As a result, the team's are now tied for the second and last N.L. Wild Card spot, just behind the San Francisco Giants.

And sure, it might only be late June, but here's a look at the wild card standings as of 11 p.m. EST. The Giants currently lead their Bay Area rivals, the Oakland Athletics, 9-4 in the ninth inning.
