Pirates Vs. Phillies: Phils Unsure Who Will Start Wednesday

After making their way through a doubleheader on Sunday, the Phillies aren't sure who will start for them on Wednesday against the Pirates. Joe Blanton pitched Monday, and Vance Worley is scheduled to pitch Tuesday. But Wednesday has the Phils shrugging their shoulders.

"We don't know yet," [Charlie] Manuel said. "Seriously, we don't."

Pitching coach Rich Dubee and Manuel later discussed their options, and there is no obvious one.

Worley represents a tough matchup for the Pirates, but it looks like the Pirates will have good matchups on Wednesday (who knows) and Thursday (probably Kyle Kendrick).

One possibility for the Phillies on Wednesday is Class AAA starter Tom Cochran, who has 41 strikeouts and 29 walks in 51 innings this year at Lehigh Valley. Cochran, 29, has never pitched in the big leagues.

None of the Phillies' options seem that appetizing, so that presents an opportunity for the Pirates.
