Pirates Vs. Phillies: Erik Bedard And Pirates Will Look To Gain Ground In NL Central

With two consecutive losses, including an 8-3 loss to the Phillies on Monday, the Pirates have lost ground on the NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds and are now two games behind the division lead.

In the second game of a four-game all-Pennsylvania series, the Pirates will look to bounce back with left hander Erik Bedard taking the mound against right hander Vance Worley. After losing each of his first four starts of the season, due mostly to very poor run support, Bedard settled in with a much better May than April.

Now Bedard is coming off a strong showing against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday in which he threw in six innings allowing four hits and one earned run; however, he was unable to earn the decision and the Pirates lost the game 2-1.

Worley is coming off two consecutive losses for the Phillies and hasn't earned a victory since he beat the Padres on May 11. In his most recent start he allowed four hits and two earned runs in seven innings pitched.

The first pitch of the game will come at 7:05 p.m. ET and will be televised on CSN-Philadelphia and ROOT Sports.
