Pirates Trade Kris Watts To Nationals, Sign Doug Salinas

A couple of minor moves from the Pirates:

↵

-P- The Bucs have traded catcher Kris Watts to the Washington Nationals for cash. The Bucs will hardly notice he's gone -- Watts was in Class AAA, but he hardly played, and he's spent an eternity in the minors. For him, though, it's a good opportunity, since the Nationals have had an unsettled catching situation recently. It's unclear what his role with the organization will be, but there might be a chance he'll be able to get to the show for the first time.

-P- Pirates Prospects notices that the Bucs have signed reliever Doug Salinas. Salinas was in camp with the Rangers but didn't even make any of their minor-league teams, which tells you most of what you need to know, but his statistics are actually rather good. He'll probably end up at Class A+ Bradenton when all is said and done.
