MLB Trade Rumors: Pirates Have Scout Watching Justin Upton In Chicago This Weekend, According To Report

On the heels of the report by Jayson Stark that the Pittsburgh Pirates have become "serious bidders" on Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports is reporting that the Pirates have had a scout at Wrigley Field in Chicago watching him this weekend.

While this doesn't indicate if the team has moved any closer into getting a deal for him, it does confirm Stark's report that the Pirates are indeed still interested in him. The scout in Chicago could also mean that the Pirates are taking looks at some of the Cubs starting pitching, including Ryan Dempster for a possible trade, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. The Pirates, along with many other teams, have been looking to shore up their rotation with the trade deadline approaching.
