Pirates Vs. Rockies: James McDonald On The Mound For Wednesday Matinee

The Pittsburgh Pirates have 50 wins on the season, led by the blistering bat of Andrew McCutchen and an underrated starting rotation. They trail the Reds by half a game in the NL Central, and have a great chance to leap ahead as Cincinnati works around the loss of Joey Votto. Pittsburgh will try to get an edge with another win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon.

James McDonald is on the mound for the Pirates, looking for his 10th win of the season. He had a rough outing in his last start, giving up five runs and five walks in a loss to the Brewers. Prior to that, McDonald had four straight wins.

Colorado turns to right-hander Jeremy Guthrie, who has struggled through 14 starts and 18 appearances this season. Guthrie is 1-5 at Coors Field with a 9.23 ERA.

The game starts at 3:10 p.m. Eastern from Coors Field in Denver. Fans can see the game on Root Sports.
