The Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins are knotted at one apiece following three innings at PNC Park.
The Pirates put one run up on the scoreboard early after fight fielder Garrett Jones' groundout scored leadoff man Alex Presley during the bottom of the first inning.
Thus far, Pittsburgh starting pitcher A.J. Burnett has tossed 42 pitches over the course of three innings, walking one batter and surrendering three hits and one earned run -- a solo homer from Justin Ruggiano to right field in the third inning. The right-handered gave up four runs and nine hits over seven innings during his last outing on Sunday -- a 4-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.
On Friday night, Pittsburgh took the series opener by a final score of 4-3, giving it its 14th win in its last 19 contests.
