MLB Depth Charts takes a look at Pirates outfield prospect Gregory Polanco.
↵↵↵When the Pirates signed the left-handed hitting Polanco out of the Dominican Republic back in April of 2009, they saw a tall slender 17 year-old with big-time power potential, speed and above average defense ... With a little more polish to his game than [Alen] Hanson, the 6'4" Polanco appears to be putting all of the skills together and has surprised many by doing so much faster than expected during his first taste of full-season ball.

Of the players on the Pirates' Class A affiliate at West Virginia, Alen Hanson has gotten by far the most attention this season, but Polanco deserves attention too. He's hit well all season and has had a brilliant July, posting a 1.130 OPS. He's only 20, and his big, athletic body type is the kind that can get a scout thinking that Major League stardom is in his future.
