The Pirates' excellent trade of reliever Brad Lincoln for outfielder Travis Snider leaves the Bucs a bit thin the bullpen. They could certainly call up Bryan Morris, who has pitched very well at Class AAA Indianapolis, to take Lincoln's place, but the Snider trade still would appear to increase the chance that they'll hunt for a reliever before Tuesday afternoon's trade deadline.
↵That's pure speculation on my part. We haven't seen much rumor-mongering about relievers in the past week, probably because no one cares much about those kinds of trades.
↵Lincoln is a righty, but Clint Hurdle has expressed preference in the past for two bullpen lefties, and the Bucs have had trouble finding one this year to go with Tony Watson. So adding a lefty would shore up the 'pen while also providing Hurdle with the flexibility he wants. Jose Mijares of the Royals might be one possibility; Manny Parra of the Brewers might be another. Believe it or not, another player who might make some sense is Oliver Perez, who has pitched well out of the Mariners' pen. Again, that's speculation on my part. But I'm not sure the Pirates are done yet.
