The Pittsburgh Pirates have traveled to the west coast for a three-game series with the San Diego Padres at Petco Park, starting on Monday.
After taking two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals - including Sunday's 19-inning epic - Pittsburgh is off to a nice start on its six-game road trip.
Thanks to that extra-inning affair, the Pirates aren't exactly sure who their starting pitcher is going to be. Wandy Rodriguez was originally scheduled to get the ball, but he ended up throwing two frames of relief to help secure a victory.
On the other side, we do know that Edinson Volquez will be on the mound for the Padres.
The ex-Reds hurler has struggled this season with a 7-9 mark and 4.31 ERA. He's been battered lately, surrendering 21 runs in his last 13.2 innings. In his last outing, Volquez was knocked out by the Atlanta Braves after allowing six runs on seven hits in just 3.2 innings of work.
