Entering Wednesday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Pittsburgh Pirates sit 3.5 games back of the final wild card spot in the National League.
With the Brewers (2.5 games back) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (1.5 games back), the Pirates could use a strong showing against Milwaukee to bridge the gap on their competitors. Coming off a 6-0 loss in the first game of the set, Pittsburgh could regain ground if they take the final two games against Milwaukee.
After wrapping up with the Brewers, Pittsburgh will embark on a seven-game road trip that includes a three-game set against the Houston Astros and a four-game set against the New York Mets. From there, the team will finish the season with a six-game home stand comprised of two, three-game sets against the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves.
