Brad Childress Fired By Vikings

This isn't directly Pittsburgh-related, but the the Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Brad Childress after the team started 3-7 and just after an ugly 31-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier will be the Vikes' interim coach.

The Vikings were preseason Super Bowl contenders prior to the season but after 10 games they stand at 3-7 and all but eliminated from playoff talk. To say this season has been a disappointment is an understatement. From the 1-3 start to the season to the botched Randy Moss incident to the Brett Favre scandal, the Vikings season has been an absolute disaster.

Remember when the Vikings played the Steelers last year? The Vikings were 6-0 and the Steelers were 4-2, and Pittsburgh dealt Minnesota its first loss, thanks to a big fumble return touchdown by LaMarr Woodley and a pick-six by Keyaron Fox. The Vikings got off to a 10-1 start and made it to within a game of the Super Bowl. It's funny how quickly these things change in the NFL.
