Pittsburgh Steelers Jerome Bettis, Dermontti Dawson, and Kevin Greene were named as finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The list of 26 players also includes former Pitt Panthers stars Curtis Martin and Chris Doleman.
↵Martin and Bettis both have the stats to make it. They are the No. 4 and No. 5 all-time NFL rushers respectively and each has rushed for more than 13,000 yards. Both are in their first years of eligibility.
↵Greene and Doleman also put up gaudy numbers and were two of the most feared pass rushers in their era. The two players are the No. 3 and No. 4 NFL career sack leaders respectively, each having compiled more than 150. Both players have been nominated before, but did not receive induction.
↵Dawson is widely recognized as one of the best centers of his era playing for the Steelers from 1988 - 2000. He was also previously nominated, but did not receive enough votes to receive induction.
↵Like last season, the Hall of Fame could again have a heavy dose of Pittsburgh.
