I’m pretty sure this is the most frivolous thing Hines Ward has ever said, but if it adds more fuel to the Steelers/Ravens fire, then what the heck: Hines Ward thinks the Ravens’ John Harbaugh hates him because Harbaugh didn’t shake his hand right. Yes, really.
“I don’t think their head coach likes me,” Ward said the other day. “I tried to shake his hand before we played them the last time. He gave me a fake handshake. He didn’t even look at me. That’s fine. Whatever.”
Of all the reasons the Steelers have to hate the Ravens, this one is definitely the dumbest, but that didn’t stop Harbaugh from issuing a response, albeit a bemused one.
“I didn’t know there was a barometer to a handshake; I didn’t know there was a meter,” Harbaugh said jokingly. “I need some work on that. I will take it as constructive criticism and an opportunity to improve my pregame decorum.”
To be fair, it doesn’t sound like Ward was entirely serious, either. But it feels like we’ve come a long way from the days where Bart Scott said he wanted to kill Ward.
