"We're going to look at him and watch him move here a little bit this week," Tomlin said. "It's not out of the realm of possibility that he could play this weekend, and, if he's healthy, he will."

The coach also offered an update on the status of defensive lineman Aaron Smith, who has been out of action since Oct. 24 with torn triceps.

"Again, he's pushing and lifting weights and so forth and is inching closer to practice participation, and, of course, hopefully game participation, here at some point," Tomlin said.

Lastly, Tomlin had some notes on more minor injuries. Corner Bryant McFadden and linebacker LaMarr Woodley will be limited in practice but are expected to play. Rookie linebacker Jason Worilds will also be limited but is not expected to play. Also, running back Mewelde Moore is questionable with a sprained ankle. If he can't go on Sunday, rookie Jonathan Dwyer will dress for Pittsburgh.
