Remember when Ray Lewis was barking about wanting to face the New York Jets at full strength before their much-anticipated Week 1 matchup? Well, for Steelers fans at least, the same goes for facing the Ravens with one of Baltimore’s most important players, running back Ray Rice.
Rice bruised his knee late in last week’s win over the Cleveland Browns. There was speculation early in the week that Rice might not be able to go this coming Sunday, but Rice says he expects to play when the AFC North rivals go after it at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
It would be especially gratifying to see the Steelers’ defense stymie Rice, Joe Flacco, and the rest of the Ravens’ offensive playmakers, but after seeing what Rice did to the Steelers in their two meetings last year, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing if he opted to sit this one out. Hey, we’re still missing our franchise quarterback.
