We don’t know, of course, since the Steelers clinched the second seed in the AFC and a first-round bye by destroying the Cleveland Browns today. Here’s what we know, though:
-P- The Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets both won today, and they’ll have the Wild Card spots. The Ravens will get the fifth seed because they have the better record, and the Jets will get the sixth. That means the Steelers’ first playoff opponent will be the Chiefs, Ravens, Colts or Jaguars. If the Jets win next week, they’ll take on the Patriots the following week.
-P- The Chiefs lost to the Raiders, opening the door for the Colts to take the third seed with a win over the Titans today. The Jaguars can win the fourth playoff seed only if they win and the Colts lose; in that scenario, the Chiefs would take the third seed.
So, keep checking the scores of the Colts-Titans game (currently 3-3) and the Jaguars-Texans game (which the Texans lead 10-0). Once those games are over, we’ll know the playoff seeds. We’ll have to wait for the games next week to see if the Steelers ultimately take on the third, fourth or fifth seed in their first playoff game.
