Dick LeBeau Shoots Down Speculation He Could Take Job With Cardinals

Following up on a blog post from last week, Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau has rejected ESPN's recent report that he could take the Cardinals' defensive coordinator job after the season is over:

"You're going to be waiting a long time to see that," LeBeau said Thursday when asked why he wasn't wearing an Arizona Cardinals shirt at the Steelers' practice facility.

LeBeau told the NFL Network on Wednesday: "I promise you: If I'm coaching, it will be the Pittsburgh Steelers."

Well, duh. As I said at the time, the idea that LeBeau would go to the Cardinals made no sense. LeBeau is 73 and has a fantastic reputation as a defensive coordinator who has great players on a great team. He and the Steelers are perfect for each other, and it seemed unlikely he would leave his current job for the same position on a much worse team. Hopefully he won't retire after this season.
