The Jaguars won the coin toss and elected to receive. On their first drive, they got a couple of first downs, led by Blaine Gabbert. But a sack of Gabbert by LaMarr Woodley at around midfield led to the end of of the Jaguars’ drive, and after a punt, the Steelers started their opening drive at their own 13 yard line.
The Steelers marched 87 yards downfield to score. Ben Roethlisberger completed a couple passes to Heath Miller, and Isaac Redman had an 11-yard run, but the key play was a 32-yard pass to Emmanuel Sanders that took the Steelers to the Jaguars’ 13-yard line. From there, Mendenhall needed to rushes to punch the ball in, the last being an eight-yard carry. The Steelers got the extra point to make it 7-0 midway through the first quarter.
