Rashard Mendenhall Wins AFC Offensive Player Of The Week For Steelers

Running back Rashard Mendenhall has been named the AFC Offensive Player Of The Week for his role in the Steelers' 17-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday. Mendenhall had 146 yards on 23 carries, including a first-quarter touchdown, and a 68-yard run in the second quarter that set up a Shaun Suisham field goal.

It was a nice bounce-back performance for Mendenhall, who missed the Steelers' previous game (against the Tennessee Titans) due to injury and had struggled before that (thanks in part to poor play by the Steelers' injury-ravaged offensive line). Mendenhall had averaged only 2.8 yards per carry in Week 4 against the Texans and 2.1 in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts. He's still at only 3.9 yards per carry for the season, but he certainly looked a lot better against Jacksonville than he had looked previously.
