Pittsburgh Steelers guard Chris Kemoeatu was slapped with two separate fines by the NFL totaling in $25,000 today for incidents in last weeks game against the Arizona Cardinals. Kemoeatu said he was fined $15,000 for a late hit and $10,000 for a hands-to-the face penalty.
Both penalties by Kemoeatu came on the Steelers second drive. The hands-to-the face penalty was thankfully offset by a defensive holding call, but the personal foul was a drive killing play. Kemoeatu was flagged for a personal foul on 2nd and 10, pushing the Steelers into 3rd and 18 after a 7-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger to wide receiver Hines Ward. The Steelers failed to convert the third down and were forced to punt. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that he has met with Kemoeatu and explained to him he has to cut those kinds of mental mistakes out.
Kemoeatu is the fourth Steelers lineman to be fined this season.
