Steelers Vs. Patriots Injuries: Hines Ward Questionable, Might Not Play

Here’s your Steelers injury news for Friday, in advance of their matchup against the New England Patriots this weekend. The big news is that, while on Thursday Hines Ward (ankle) looked set to play, there are now rumors that he’ll sit out.

According to a league source, it’s “highly unlikely” that Steelers WR Hines Ward will play Sunday against New England.

Yes, “a league source” is pretty nebulous, but Albert Breer’s reporting is usually reliable. Anyway, as Michael Bean writes, the Steelers have a ton of receiving talent, so if Ward needs to sit out a game, that shouldn’t have a huge impact on the Steelers’ chances. Emmanuel Sanders would probably start in his place.

Ward is listed as questionable after not practicing Friday, and linebacker James Farrior (calf) is questionable as well. Offensive lineman Doug Legursky, nose tackle Chris Hoke, and linebackers James Harrison and Jason Worilds are all out.
