Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says he expects quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is dealing with a foot injury, to be ready to play this week against the Tennessee Titans.
Tomlin “Based on the information i have now, we expect Ben to be limited in the early part of week, and ready by weekend”
This was about what we expected. Roethlisberger typically fights hard through injuries and is willing to play through them. If the foot wasn’t going to fall off, Roethlisberger was probably going to play. (Tomlin confirms that the injury is a sprain, not a break.)
This injury could bother him for a while, though, and the Steelers’ patchwork offensive line probably won’t give him the protection he needs, so the most urgent issue probably isn’t whether he will play, but whether he will survive if he does. Roethlisberger will do everything possible to stay on the field, but these next couple weeks are probably going to be very tough for him.
