After giving up a field goal in the first drive of the game, the Steelers got great field position near midfield thanks to a big kickoff return by Antonio Brown. After a one-yard run by (starting!) running back Isaac Redman and an incomplete pass, Mike Wallace made a brilliant diving catch on third-and-nine. The pass was initially ruled incomplete, but was reversed on Mike Tomlin’s challenge.
A pass over the middle to Brown gave the Steelers a first-and-goal from the eight yard line. Ben Roethlisberger then hit Heath Miller over the middle for a touchdown to give the Steelers a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter.
At least on this opening drive, the offensive line looked much better than it looked last week. It looked like Roethlisberger generally tried to get his passes off quickly, but he did have enough time to make them.
