As Sunday's 1:00 games come to a close, it's still possible for the Steelers to clinch a playoff spot by early Sunday evening. The Steelers are currently behind the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North after the Ravens' defeat of the winless Indianapolis Colts Sunday afternoon. But the Steelers are way out in front in the Wild Card race.
Dave Bryan describes the scenarios that would lead the Steelers to clinch a playoff berth on Sunday. They all involve some combination of the Bengals, Jets, Titans, Raiders and Broncos losing.
Well, the Jets beat the Chiefs 37-10, but the Bengals (on a touchdown pass by the Texans with two seconds left) and the Titans both lost, so if the Broncos and Raiders both lose later Sunday afternoon, the Steelers are in.
That might happen. The Broncos are facing the 7-5 Bears. And the Raiders take on the undefeated Packers. I don't think any Steelers fan is on pins and needles about the team making the playoffs - it's going to happen, and it's mostly just a question of whether it occurs this week or next. But it would be nice if the Steelers could get that milestone out of the way as quickly as possible.
