The Steelers began their game against the Bengals on Sunday with a three-and-out, and the Bengals took over. They had what looked like a successful first drive, keyed by a big play by rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green – a fake reverse briefly stymied the Steelers, and Dalton threw a 43-yard bomb to the speedy Green.
That set the Bengals up in the red zone, but they couldn’t get the job done – a passing touchdown was called back on a penalty, and the Bengals had to attempt a field goal. They made their first one, but that was also called back on a penalty, this time for delay of game. The Bengals’ next attempt was blocked by 2011 Steelers first-round pick Cameron Heyward, and the Steelers took over at their own 18 yard line. There’s now about 10 minutes left in the first quarter.
