Jerome Bettis, Dermontti Dawson Miss Pro Football Hall Of Fame Admission

Former Steelers Jerome Bettis and Dermontti Dawson were not admitted to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame this year. This year's class includes first-time eligible running backs Marshall Faulk and Curtis Martin, who may have hurt Bettis' chances, along with Deion Sanders.

Bettis was in his first year of Hall Of Fame eligibility, so there's certainly the possibility that he could get in later, particularly if Faulk gets in this year, as is expected.

Among the most popular Steelers in recent history, Bettis finished his career as the NFL's fifth leading all-time rusher with 13,662 yards and 91 touchdowns. He is second on the Steelers all-time rushing list behind Franco Harris. He also caught 200 passes for 1,449 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Dawson was one of a string of great Steelers centers. This s his seventh year of eligibility.

The list of Hall Of Fame inductees will be announced later tonight. Faulk and Sanders are among the candidates most likely to be inducted.
