2011 NFL Mock Draft: New Mock Has Steelers Picking Danny Watkins

SBNation.com’s latest mock draft has Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert going first overall and Nick Fairley, Da’Quan Bowers and Cam Newton following him. After that, Georgia receiver A.J. Green falls all the way to the Redskins at No. 10, and Florida’s Mike Pouncey leaps all the way to the Dolphins at No. 15.

Further down, Pitt defensive end Jabaal Sheard goes to the Falcons at pick No. 27. At No. 31, SB Nation has the Steelers picking Baylor offensive lineman Danny Watkins:

Pittsburgh’s offensive line will be getting better simply because it will be getting healthier, but reinforcements are still needed. Mike Pouncey would be the obvious target, but Watkins is an intriguing prospect that may be able to play right away if necessary.

I guess, but again, Watkins is 26. The Steelers’ evaluations of players tend to be unconventional and they tend to be right a lot, so I feel like they’d have to really love Watkins to draft him over some diamond in the rough who might have more upside than Watkins does, due to his age.
