Stat guru Phil Steele has released his extremely early odds for Super Bowl XLVI and the Steelers come in third, at 8-to-1 odds to win their seventh Lombardi Trophy. The Patriots (5/1) and Packers (6/1) placed just ahead of the Steelers.
Steele's rationale for the placement involves an issue that concerns many Pittsburgh fans: the youth (or lack thereof) on the defense.
↵↵3. Pittsburgh 8/1-The Steelers came close to getting their 7th title this past year and that was with Roethlisberger missing the first four games. You have to worry about their aging defense but with Tomlin, LeBeau and many of the same players that have played in 3 SB’s the last 6 years coming back you have to consider them one of the favorites.

The Steelers are 4/1 favorites to win the AFC, behind the Patriots (5/2). In the NFC, the top favorites include: Green Bay 11/4, Philadelphia, NY Giants, Atlanta, Chicago, and New Orleans (all 13/2).
↵Steele finishes the post off with his projected odds for college football, including the odds of teams winning the BCS National Championship. Locally, Penn State is given 50/1 odds, WVU gets 60/1 odds, and Pitt is given 300/1 odds.
