2011 NFL Mock Draft: Steelers Select Nate Solder

Mocking The Draft is in the midst of a detailed, pick-by-pick 2011 NFL Mock Draft that features input from SB Nation’s team bloggers. The Steelers’ first-round pick is up, and it’s Colorado offensive lineman Nate Solder:

Simply put, Kevin Colbert will do backflips up and down Carson Street if the Pittsburgh Steelers get an opportunity to draft Nate Solder. Did I mention that he grades at 94, one of the Top 15 college football players in the country? And don’t just take Scouts, Inc.’s word for it. Mike Mayock, Todd McShay and Mel Kiper all have Solder being drafted before the Steelers get to the podium. Add the character element and the need factor, and we folks, have ourselves a no-brainer.

Mocking The Draft, however, notes that Solder might not be ready to start in his first year in the league, which could be a problem for the Steelers. Still, he certainly represents a great value with the No. 31 overall pick in the draft.
