2011 NFL Mock Draft: Potential Second Round Picks For Pittsburgh Steelers

At this point in time, we’ve seen what seems like a million first round mocks. But what about who the Pittsburgh Steelers might be targeting in round two? Well, SB Nation has released its latest two round mock draft and here’s who they’ve pegged as a potential pick at No. 63:

63. Pittsburgh Steelers: Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida. Gilbert is a riser with the ability to play either side. He’s also a former teammate of Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey.

I personally think that Gilbert is not quite worthy of a second round pick. Yes, the Florida tackle would fill a need for the Steelers, but I really don’t see any way possible that Kevin Colbert and his army of scouts will consider him to be the best player available if he’s still on the board at the end of round two.

If the Steelers were to draft Gilbert, I’d prefer it if they traded up in round three to nab him. I don’t see how more than three or four rookies make the ‘11 squad, so why not forfeit a fifth or sixth round pick in order to get four picks in the first 100 selections? We’ll see what happens, but thankfully all the speculation will be coming to an end in just over a week and a half.
