2011 NFL Draft: Aaron Williams Visits Steelers

Texas cornerback Aaron Williams, who has appeared as the Steelers’ first pick at No. 31 in many mock drafts, had a pre-draft visit with the team on Wednesday. This seems to indicate that the Steelers think he could be a viable first-round pick, and also suggests it’s possible that they could use their first-rounder on a cornerback, which is what many fans want.

He is one of several cornerbacks to make pre-draft visits so far, including Virginia’s Ras-I Dowling, Texas’ Curtis Brown, Utah State’s Curtis Marsh, the Citadel’s Cortez Allen, Tennessee-Chattanooga’s Buster Skrine, and Louisville’s Johnny Patrick.

The Steelers also held visits with San Diego State wideout Vincent Brown, South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders, and Virginia Tech safety Davon Morgan.

Brown is a likely late-round pick. While the Steelers have shown interest in a few receivers, such as Boise State’s Austin Pettis, it’s unlikely they would pick one in the first few rounds, given the depth they have at the position and the needs they have elsewhere.

Saunders and Morgan are also potential late-round picks.
