NFL Mock Drafts: Todd McShay's Three Scenarios For The Pittsburgh Steelers

We’re just over one week away from the opening night of the 2011 NFL Draft. Round one takes place in prime time next Thursday night. Mock drafts are being filed fast and furious as the draft rapidly approaches, including Todd McShay’s sixth installment ($). McShay’s format is to provide three scenarios for each of the 32 teams, with a brief explanation of how and why that scenario might unfold. Here’s what he had as Scenario No. 1:

Brandon Harris, CB, Miami
Scenario 1: Harris is not an elite playmaker but he’s more physical than his size suggests and as the athleticism to help upgrade the cornerback unit and push for the No. 2 job.

Interesting, but I can’t say I’m holding my breath hoping that this scenario becomes reality next Thursday night. After reading this compelling argument against Brandon Harris as a good fit for the Steelers, I’m sold on there being better options at CB for the Steelers.

McShay’s second scenario involves picking the best available offensive lineman. Danny Watkins (G, Baylor), Benjamin Ijalana (T/G, Villanova), James Carpenter (T, Alabama), and Will Rackley (G/T, Lehigh). Rackley is a guy who Behind the Steel Curtain profiled on Wednesday ,in fact.
