NFL Mock Draft 2011: Could Marcus Cannon Go In The First Round?

Chad Reuter’s latest 2011 NFL mock draft surprisingly has the Steelers taking TCU offensive lineman Marcus Cannon with the No. 31 overall pick:

A big-bodied, quick-footed tackle or guard in the Steelers’ offensive scheme.

Well, maybe, but I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen Cannon projected as a first-rounder, and the Steelers will be able to choose from a bunch more highly-touted talents in the first round, including several who play cornerback, where the Steelers need more help than they do on the offensive line. If they really want Cannon, they can gamble and hope he’s there in the second round, or they can trade down at least a dozen picks.

In the second round, Reuter has the Steelers picking New Mexico State cornerback Davon House, which I guess makes sense if they pick an offensive lineman in the first round and guys like Ras-I Dowling and Curtis Brown are gone.
