Should Rashard Mendenhall Be Traded?

Steelers Depot asks whether running back Rashard Mendenhall should be traded in light of his recent comments about 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden.

I don't doubt that Mendenhall's comments, which questioned Bin Laden's role in 9/11 and suggested that we haven't heard Bin Laden's side of the story, are highly annoying to the Steelers, but I doubt they will move to trade him. While I don't agree with anything Mendenhall said, it's important to point out that these were just words, and words that weren't intended to be hateful at that.

Also, Mendenhall is very important to the Steelers from a football perspective. Isaac Redman might or might not be a capable replacement, but after that the Steelers have two completely unproven talents in Jonathan Dwyer and Baron Batch. Steelers Depot points out that trading Mendenhall might free up money to pay Ike Taylor, but that's just solving one problem by creating another. The possibility of trading Mendenhall is worth discussing, probably, but it seems very unlikely.
