Gerry Dulac tweets that the Steelers could consider signing wide receiver Plaxico Burress. First Tiki Barber, now Burress - it seems like the Steelers are being connected to everyone who's on the comeback trail. I've heard the Steelers can use a cornerback. Maybe Deion Sanders wants to play again!
↵↵↵#Steelers coaches are interested in Burress but depends on price. They would release randle el to make room.

Leaving aside the fact that these don't seem like the types of moves the Steelers usually make, well, what function does Burress serve here? Like Pete Wilmoth, I don't think this is likely.
↵As with Barber, Burress has had time off and is at an age where it's an open question whether he can really contribute - he'll be 34 before the season starts, if it starts. And it's not as if the Steelers are in desperate need of receivers - they have a great one in Mike Wallace, and another in Hines Ward who's in the decline phase of his career, but who's still decent. (Not that Ward and Burress would really compete with one another anyway, since they're totally different types of receivers.) On top of that, two 2010 draft picks, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders, played surprisingly well last year.
↵Where does Burress fit in here? He's need an injury or two to even get much of a shot at playing time. Is that really worth all the press he's going to get, not to mention the money? It's hard to believe Burress won't be able to find another team that needs his services a lot more than the Steelers do.
